Chemotherapy dates

2009 BETH trial

http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00625898

I decided to take part in an international trial for a drug called Avastin. This drug is already used for other kinds of cancer and even advanced breast cancer, just not in early stage breast cancer. It’s thought that Avastin stops a blood supply developing on HER2 positive breast cancer cells, so effectively cuts its food. I was randomly assigned to the control group, so I’m not getting Avastin. However, I’m getting the same chemo drug treatment with the added benefit of being closely monitored. The trial follows you up for ten years.

Chemotherapy dates:

  • 26th June
  • 17th July
  • 7th August
  • 28th August
  • 18th September
  • 9th October

N.B// Due to getting a bacterial infection and the 0 white cell thingy, I’m eligible for a depot GCSF injection. This injection will slow release over the weeks after chemo and help boost my white blood cell count. It costs $3000 an injection, so PBS (pharmaceutical benefits scheme) only sub it in specific cases – like mine. I had three GCSF (not depot ones – these cost $1000 a piece) injections last week – high maintenance me!

Ah, worth every cent. This blog is fantastic, allowing others to walk along side as you beat this thing into submission. Am right here for you – just shout if you need anything.

    hi love
I notice you’ve got another round starting 28th August.
There’s something I’d like to come to Brisie for on the 30th. Would it help if I came a day early (or stayed a day later) and gave you a hand with anything you need (food/cleaning/chat/foot massage/taking Felix)….? I’d stay at ian’s sister’s,.

And by the way, thank you for taking the time to do the blog. makes it so much easier to keep up to date without feeling guilty about tiring you by asking all the time! It’s all v clear. And you’re v v beautiful with your new look. i’m thinking of you often.
